What  Broadbottom Community Association Does

Broadbottom Community Association is dedicated to the promotion of the needs and interests of the residents of Broadbottom.

  • We run the community centre, which is the heart of many of the village’s activities
  • We provide accommodation for Broadbottom Pre-school, which has been based in the community centre for about 40 years. The pre-school operates 5 days a week.
  • During school holidays there is sometimes a play-scheme, organised by villagers and based in the centre.
  • We have supported a youth club “Klub”, currently closed whilst a new team of volunteers is sought.
  • We provide accommodation for Guides, Brownies and Rainbows.
  • We provide accommodation for private lettings for parties etc.
  •  We provide accommodation for a number of group activities such as Art, Yoga, Pilates and Aerobics.
  • We provide (limited) financial support for specific needs of groups such as Preschool and Guides.
  • We host the local Polling Station.
  • We maintain a website and a Facebook page used by ourselves and by other organisations in the village to publicise events.
  • We publish, and distribute to all households, a twice-yearly magazine (the Broadbottom Quarterly), often in full colour, with articles about events in the village and articles of local interest.
  • We publish and distribute leaflets to all household publicising events run by us and other organisations in the village.
  • We support activities such as Remembrance Day and Britain in Bloom.
  • We organise a range of activities in the village. In the last couple of years this has included:
    • Scarecrow week
    • Visit from Morris Men
    • Duck-race and barbecue
    • Autumn Show including classes in Arts, Crafts, Flowers, Vegetables etc for both adults and children.
